After numerous minor Western Australian Title podium finishes in other classes, Daniel Hartigan was able to finally stand on the top step of the podium with victory in the Western Australian Limited Sprintcars Title.

Driving once again with car owners Peter and Tania Harvey and their Sprintcar Parts Australia team, Hartigan ventured to Moora Speedway on Saturday night with his confidence high in what was just his third Limited Sprintcar appearance of the season.

Despite only a handful of Limited Sprintcar race meetings to his name this season, Hartigan was on the pace from the get-go, after he recorded the sixth fastest lap in qualifying time trials. He then continued that form by winning his opening heat race and then charging from the back of the field to score a third-place finish in the second and final heat race.

Starting the Western Australian Title deciding feature race from the front row by virtue of being the second highest point scorer from the qualifying events, Hartigan was in a class of his own throughout the 30-lap event.

In a feature race that was punctuated by stoppages, Hartigan was able to survive those numerous stoppages and at the fall of the chequered flag scored a comprehensive victory.

For Hartigan, his Western Australian Title victory has been a long time coming.

“I’ve been close to winning a Western Australian Title a few times in the past but for one reason or another it just hasn’t come my way,” commented Hartigan, who is a two-time Australian Wingless Sprint Champion (2014 and 2016).

“I enjoyed a great run at Moora Speedway, as the club was able to produce a fantastic track and it was very pleasing to finally get my first Western Australian Title win.”

Running the WA # 83 Reds Transport / ODH Mechanical supported Maxim car for most of this season in 410 Sprintcar competition, Hartigan was very pleased to come back to the Limited Sprintcar class and support the class’s biggest event of the season.

“My car owner Peter is very passionate about the Limited Sprintcar class, and it was also great to be able to pick up the Western Australian Title win for him,” he said.

“The Limited Sprintcars are a very competitive class and you know that every time you come back to race with them that you are in for a tough challenge.”

Hartigan and Harvey’s plans for the rest of the 2019-20 season are to contest the annual Sprintcar Stampede at Karratha’s Nickol Bay Speedway on May 15 and 16. Following that event, they will focus on getting ready to travel up to Darwin’s Northline Speedway in the Northern Territory for the Chariots of Thunder Series in August.

The Perth, Western Australian-based duo is currently seeking further sponsorship opportunities. To register your interest in supporting Hartigan and Harvey, please contact Peter Harvey on 0439 118 046.
