Following an opportunity presented by David Clarkson, leading National 4s racer Tim Weir is gearing up to fill the driver’s seat of the Qld # 58 Clarko’s Performance supported XE Ford Falcon Modified Sedan during the 2018-19 season.

Being offered the drive after a conversation between Clarkson, who assists with machining on Weir’s National 4s car, and Weir’s dad, David, the current and two-time Queensland National 4s Title holder jumped at the opportunity to try his hand in the class, with the state of Queensland regarded as the hotbed for Modified Sedan racing.

“I can’t thank David (Clarkson) enough for allowing me to race his car and I’m looking very much forward to getting behind the wheel,” commented Weir, who is yet to have a shakedown run in the car, with veteran Gary Pagel having steered the car during the recent Gold Rush event at Gympie’s Mothar Mountain Speedway in a shake down run.

“It’s certainly going to be a new challenge for me, with an unfamiliar car and new people to race against, but I feel that I’m ready for the challenge ahead. We’re realistic about what we’ll be able to achieve, but our main goal is to just qualify into as many feature races as possible.”

Aside from his National 4s commitments, Weir plans to contest as many Modified Sedan race meetings as possible in his home state.
