RSA STREET STOCKERS

The Western Sydney Street Stockers (WSSS) celebrated what was a successful 2017-18 season with their annual presentation night, held at the Major Oak Theatre Restaurant in St Marys, and it was second-season racer Chris Marino who collected the overall WSSS Club Championship win.

Off the back of an impressive and consistent season, where his worst finish at his home track: Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway was a fourth, Marino emerged on top in the final WSSS Club Champion point standings.

The Valvoline Raceway performances, which also consisted of a fourth-place finish in the Australian Title, along with a second-place finish in the NSW Title and a WSSS round win at Nowra Speedway, cemented Marino’s position at the top.

Rounding out the top three in the point score was former WSSS Club Champion Kiona Sunerton filling the runner-up position, who had a very strong season, resulting in numerous podium finishes, while Shaun Davoodi came home in third after several strong performances, including a feature-race win to start the season and falling one spot short of a successful Australian Title defence.

The remaining WSSS Club Championship top-10 finishers were Stephen Kurtz, Troy Dawes, Steve Walsh, Jarrett Dryburgh, Anthoney Attard, Charlie Dodson and John Upston.

In the best presented car section, two awards were handed out. Ash Dawes and Attard were jointly awarded best looking Holden, while Rodney Jones was presented with the award for best looking Ford. In the Rookie of the Year spoils, they went the way of Mitch Brown.
