Starting his 2017-18 season in strong fashion, Todd Hobson recorded a confidence-building performance in last Saturday night’s Victorian Wingless Sprint Twin Feature night at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway, claiming the final podium place amongst some stout competition.

Displaying good pace from the outset, Hobson was the highest point scorer following his heat races, where he placed second and first, before finishing runner-up in preliminary feature race one, which secured his starting position for the 25-lap feature race on the inside of the second row.

While he couldn’t quite get the jump on fellow second row started Travis Millar at the drop of the green flag, slipping back to fourth, the Clyde, Victoria-based racer didn’t lose his focus, managing to make his way into second by lap 10, before losing his position to eventual feature race winner Luke Weel.

Going on to greet the chequered flag in third place behind Weel and Millar, Hobson couldn’t have been happier to place third behind two of the state’s fastest drivers.

“Finishing third to drivers the calibre of Luke and Travis is definitely something to be proud of,” expressed Hobson, who would like to give special thanks to Peter Temby for the loan of his race trailer for the night.

“We were really strong in our heat races, which definitely helped, and the car was fantastic throughout the whole night. This is a great start to the season for us and it certainly gives us some added confidence heading into our upcoming race meetings.”

Planning to contest 30 race meetings during the 2017-18 season, including the Australian Championship at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway in NSW along with most of the Victorian schedule, Hobson’s next outing is expected to be on the Saturday night of October 21 at Valvoline Raceway; however this is subject to change.

Hobson is proudly supported in the 2017-18 season by: Russell Steel, Tooradin Automotive, Temby Haulage, Pearce Performance Products, Salt Electrical, Cranhaul Transport, Kool Freighters, Polish N’ Shine, and Vahlco Racing Wheels. Special thanks must go to his mum and dad (Sue and Lloyd) and his older sister (Ebony).
