V8 DIRT MODIFIEDS

Having so far endured a rather challenging start to his 2017-18 season, V8 Dirt Modifieds racer Brent Hall finally managed to score that elusive feature-race win last Saturday night at Grafton Speedway, finding himself in victory lane.

Despite showing encouraging pace throughout previous meetings at his home track Lismore Speedway in what has been a limited season, due to family and work commitments, Hall, had not yet been able to convert that pace into a positive result and therefore decided to venture south to Grafton Speedway to try his luck on a different track.

Going back to what they’ve done well in the past, Hall and his team proved that it’s sometimes best to stick with what you know, winning their opening heat race and placing third in the other, before qualifying in pole position for the 25-lap feature race.

Putting pressure on himself to make the most of his start, that’s exactly what Hall did, outpacing local Andrew Firth into turn one to take control of the lead. From there, the Alstonville, NSW-based driver wasn’t headed, dictating the pace so as not to over-drive his car and going flag to flag to claim his first feature-race win of the season.

“Racing is a real family affair for our team, so to have been able to finally reward everyone with a feature-race win after what has been a challenging start to the season meant a great deal to me,” said the 32-year-old pilot of the ex-Andrew Pezzutti NSW # 8 Troyer car, which resembles Lightning McQueen from Disney’s Cars film, making it very popular with all of the kids and also many parents at the track, with the team never failing to make it available for photo opportunities.

“We’ve known that we have a strong car under us, but to have now proven that in our results gives us much more confidence for the rest of the season and we’re hoping to be able to continue this form.”

Currently contesting his eighth season with the class, Hall plans to complete the remainder of this season’s calendar at Lismore Speedway, while also potentially returning to Grafton Speedway. He is also hoping to compete in next month’s (March 3) Australian Title at Moama’s Heartland Raceway.

Hall would like to thank the following 2017-18 season sponsors for their continued support: Robmac Harvesters, O W Higgins Smash Repairs, Rod Green Carpet Cleaning, Trevan Ford, Global Lubricant Distributors, and Shaq’s Speedway Pics. Special thanks must go to his wife Tonia, his grandparents Robert and Ethel Eggins, along with his crew: dad Bruce, Scott, father-in-law Rod Green and Ben Griffin.
